Dear Arsenal Keeper,
You are officially a muppet. You and Mr. Bendtner need to go find a blue weirdo and do remakes of the muppet show. Why, you may ask? BECAUSE you are officially a muppet.
Yours Truly,

Seriously, I think this whole weekend plotted against me worst than communist on a small Caribbean island. If it wasn't one thing then it must have been another. I could not catch a single break.
You may be saying, "OH something good must have happened."
I say, "Nope, not really, well the first half was ok, but then the second half trotted along, only to be bobbled like a ball handled by a Spanish born keeper in the 90+ minute. This weekend was UNDERWHELMING and LACKING OF CONFIDENCE. In short, a great disappointment."
Saturday, had the usual Chelski bunch who enjoyed their destruction of a lack luster Villa side. I am not even sure how that happened and am beginning to wonder what the fuck are Villa doing in the EPL and how the fuck are they mid-table?
Alas, poor Villa, I do not care to know thee well.
The changing of the hours has really messed things up as far as I am concerned. Why do we do this now? At least we could change the same time as the rest of the world.
So the dull roar of Sunday puttered in like a garden variety snail. Nothing exciting at all. I appeared at the pub a little early for the Scouser match, just because. Would you believe that only a handful of them showed? It was a sorely disappointing weekend. The funny thing is they actually won a match. The mop head Torres even put a nice one in to start the scoring.
Later, as I was leaving the city ACMilan decided to give me a call and let me know he was in town. I turned my car around and headed back to the pub to keep him company through what was actually a semi-decent Serie A match.
I will say I was being a bit anti-social all the way around and took off for home shortly thereafter. I decided it was best to start spring cleaning the Volkswagen.

So where does that leave us? What has this weekend taught us?
1. The ball is round.
2. Frank Lampard still looks like a ****
3. Almunia and Aluminum, just may be synonymous
4. The game is 90 fucking minutes... not 80 fucking 9 you fucking muppet!
5. Ricky Martin is gay... you should have known that
Now only if we can get CR9 to come out.

West Ham Home
Another weekend goes by and what did I do with it. Absolutely nothing. I spent a ton of money, only to find out that I must be buying tickets to PISA! I keep forgetting but now that is done.
Some of you may be wondering why the blog is so late this week. Well, for one, to be honest, as A Certain Scouser put it. I was watching the "Canadien Ballet." Apparently that is also a euphemism for strip clubs in upstate New York.
I could tell you a great story about upstate New York but people are insisting I speak of the weekend. Well people being A Certain Scouser that keeps messaging me as I quickly try and type this thing up.
So where was I?
For those who can't stand my philosophical waxing, this is going to be one. As I stated in the previous paragraphs, much money was spent this weekend on drinks.
SATURDAY
We see the boys take on the hams. There is something I learned from all this. The collision with football and life, those parallels. The same parallels that can be pulled from many things but I think football itself lends to the drama.
As I have repeated time and again, "The ball is round. The game is 90 minutes."
Half the morning was spent in the company of Bayern and BigScouse telling jokes and having a laugh at everyone's expense, and by everyone I mean anyone which had the capacity to actually be breathing at one point or another.
The games went by without much to live for, to be honest. There were a few Ahhs and couple of Oohhhs but that was about it. Uneventful.
The most interesting thing that happened the whole time, besides taking the piss out of everyone and everything, was the actual number of cellphones that ended up in pints.
That would be 2.
The same number of goals that the Arsenal scored against West Ham.
I, myself, decided it would be better to put my phone away, therefore saving it from it's liquidy coffin. It was saved, like a cheap penalty that was given to West Ham.
The end of the day, despite the victory and all the jokes from earlier, had me in a rather surly mood. I took my leave and went home as it is best to be by myself at those times.
Sunday
Now Sunday was a day of mixed of emotions. ScouseDrummer had beaten me to the pub and had secured himself a nice little spot. I joined him and his dad, just to cheer on the Scousers over MancScum.
Somehow I ended up on the third floor, listening to reggae and watching the Italian game with ACMilan. About half time, we were looking down onto the road and there was a strange gentleman, dressed all in denim, doing Michael Jackson dances in the middle of the street.
It was a strange day.
OH and Chelski drew but they still have a game in hand. It will be a tight race to the finish and an even tighter one for that coveted fourth spot. I do love the end of the season and this is a World Cup year, so the summer will not be as long.
I am not proofing this Professor! I am way too tired.

Burnley at home
I have to admit, this weekend was the absolute bore when it came to football. I do not know what's going on, is it just me or am I just in need of more entertainment. I mean I can't always be this angry and unfulfilled? Can I?
Saturday
Wake me up when someone decides to actually play football. I figured catching the last bit of the first half of an FA cup tie would be exciting. PLEASE next time remind me to scratch my eyes out with rusty forks.
I guess the good thing is.. Pompey won.
Gooners did show up for the game. It was a nice handful of us for Burnley, but nothing to write home about. The game was lackluster and uneventful for a full 3 points. I wasn't too plussed about it but could have been more enthralled if a certain Muppet could hit the broad side of a barn from 6 yards away.
As I was saying, nothing exciting happened at all. We all gathered round, watch the match and that was it. The MancScum match was even more tedious, to say the least. After which, due to my lack of anything else better to do I sat with ACMilan and watched his match as well.
I will just say that the rest of my day consisted of me sitting in my room and playing video games. YES, that's right, it just ended up being underwhelming, football drove me to become a hermit.
Sunday
My day of being a hermit was now over and decided to give football another chance. I made my way to the pub to enjoy another fine spectacle of a day, Chelski FA cup match. There just did not seem to be much happening this weekend. I said it once and I'll say it over and over. NOTHING!
Of interesting note, I decided to vent my rage of nothingness on someone who had called the pub to ask some inane question that could have been answered had they just got off their fat asses and came down to the point and enjoyed the day. Why on God's greenest would you take the liberty and call a pub at noon and ask if they are open and what specials they have? Seriously? Are you brain dead?
The long and short is I gave my 2 cents but I wasn't the one who actually answered the phone, just venting my anger towards the person who called. If that makes any sense at all.
MiniMourhino looked at me and asked if Warrior of God mode was being reinstated. The only thing I could do was nod my head.

Bolton Away (MLK, Jr. Day)
I swore that today, in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in the United States I would actually be nice, for once. That means, no sideways comments about how much I despise certain squads and their cretinous ways. No comments on how a certain someone shags their mum up the shitter. No comments on why having a crap load of money does not make one a big club. Yes that's right, no comments as of such, so as you can imagine this will probably be a short blog.
Saturday
It started off as a nice enough day. The weather was a tad above freezing and there was some football on the telly at the pub. I was surrounded by some of my best mates, so who could ask for anything more.
The top two dispatched their adversaries with not much between them. Even though I would hate to admit it, the Chelsea contest was something to behold. The onslaught of goals that were obtained versus Sunderland was, in short keen. I will even concede the point that the young Mr. Ashley Cole, former Arsenal man and supporter, who left for a small sum to the Blues a few seasons ago, had a cracker of a goal. Whilst I do harbor ill feelings for the lad, they are best not expressed under the circumstances.
The public house had the usual crowd of well-doers as well. There was a great banter going betwixt the Liverpool lads and lasses with the Chelsea boys. After which a few of the Manchester supporters appeared. They are short in number in these waning days of the once great Manchester United team who has won a great many trophies in years past. I do hope their form does not slip too bad. I do not know what the Premiership would be like without their constant challenge to keep the Gunners on their toes.
In a more somber yet still celebratory fashion, the kit with Mr. Dauner's name and number went up in the pub this day as well. I was able to capture a simple photograph with a very nice reflection in it. I present such image to you.

SUNDAY
I made my way to the public house a tad bit early, as I was getting calls from ACMilan and BC/BC. They wanted me to enjoy the privilege of observing, as the Italians call it, Calcio. Now I will say, calcio is very similar to the game of proper association football that we have call come to enjoy, however there are some more or less very specific differences of which I do not have much time to entertain at this precise moment. I will say the Brazilian was a joy to watch as he found his stride in a match against a very defensive minded opponent.
It was time to head down to the pub's main floor for the proper entertainment of the mighty Arsenal taking on the football club of Bolton. Sunday, as was Saturday, had the usual milieu of punters who had arrived for the match. All in good spirits with jovial mocking all about. In short it was a good time.
I will say, lilblondiegooner is no longer blond but now an intriguing shade of brunette. It does suit her well and we all acknowledged it. I do not believe there is a style the young woman could not wear and look more than presentable.
After the match I headed home for some much needed rest. These weekends do become quite long, to say the least. It is as I have a second job, just keeping up with all the goings on and excitement that there is to partake in. I enjoy it, to be honest.
Later on Sunday evening, I received a surprising call on my mobile. It was from Sheffield who had been gone for quite some time. He had arrived back to the colonies in one piece. I met up with him and his betrothed at the public house and had a grand conversation of the month and fortnight they had been away.
It was a good evening. Now, as I said earlier, I must be off. I do wish for all those reading my words to at least consider the disaster that has struck the western side of the Isle of Hispaniola and the Haitian peoples. There is a lovely shirt that can be found here, in which all the proceeds go towards the relief effort.
Also, in celebration of the legacy of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I would like to mention, once again, Show Racism the Red Card, as it combines the efforts of creating racial and ethnic harmony amongst people and preserves the quality of the beautiful game.

Everton at Home
Londontown is very cold.
I believe those are the lyrics to some song or another. I actually know which song but I can't be bothered in telling you at this moment simply because.
Anyways, as the big freeze is happening across merry old Enger-land and parts of the continent, many games have been postponed. There is this whole thing about fixture congestion that starts to become more and more an issue around this time of the year and the weather is currently not helping.
Meanwhile, across the pond, in a little pub on Thames Street was seated your faithful author. Why? Because he has fuck all to do on a Saturday morning except wait for some damn football to be played.
I hadn't realized the damage the snow and ice had wrought upon the isles, when I had left my house for the pub, nor did I really care. I was hungry. I believe the breakfast is the reason I am getting a little bit more pudge as of late.
I sat down with a few others who had not checked the over-seas weather reports and chatted for a bit. A few of us were checking out various websites to see which games were actually going to be played.
Conclusion. A whole 2. Arsenal v. Everton and Birmingham v. MancScum.
Let's just say, had I known the Everton game was going to be such, I would have just stayed home. The only thing that made it interesting was NightCaller was in a rage and ManCity himself was playing the comedian and talking about perfumes at one point in time.
Grant Wahl did make an appearance. We spoke for a bit on the Togo tragedy and security in South Africa. He had an interesting story about Landon Donovan being put up in an airport Marriott in Manchester and not the good one, mind you. It is always nice to get a little personal insight into how the players are living life without it being all tabloid fodder.
Now the Arsenal Everton tie was at least tolerable for the last 10 minutes but the sleep inducing Birmingham United match, well let's just say if I had a gun I would have put it to my head and wished for the chamber with the bullet.
To be honest, at least it was proper football and I am sure the weather had a bit to do with not only the pace of the games but the stand offish nature of the whole thing. There were a few "injuries" that probably were more superficial, just because of the weather.
Also, I can say, at least I had the enjoyment of the pub crew to keep me entertained. There is nothing more entertaining then a bunch of supporters, slightly tipsy at 10AM and bored. The amount of crap that comes out of one's mouth would make a catholic priest blush. I hope that's the right analogy, I'm reaching here.
Needless to say, Sunday was not happening.
All Games Postponed.
I did head to the pub and ventured up to the 3rd floor where brownchicken/browncow was working. I thought I'd take in a bit of the throwball and have a few rum drinks whilst keeping her company. FancyPants manager came up and put the Milan game on the closest television. ACMilan appeared shortly after with his drink in hand.
He had never been up to the third floor and was shocked at the view. I will admit that it is probably one of the nicer views down the point. The only problem with the third floor is that it becomes the epicenter of pure douchebaggery in the summer and is not much fun for anyone with more than two brain cells.
The three of us, after BC/BC shift was finished, waited with her to get her cellphone that had been "found" by someone else the night before. We then headed over to another spot and had a couple of more drinks while listening to one of the funniest musicians that I have had the pleasure to meet. Well it was an unintentional funny, not like a comedy routine just him being himself.
So all in all, not too bad. Throwball team is in the playoffs I believe. Premiership remains where it was before the weekend began and fucking Patrick Viera signed for ManShitty... wait, what? Oh it's looks like he's injured. Sorry guys.

07 December 2009
Stoke at Home *yawn*
The fine month of Decembre rolls in with out much a hitch. I guess the small exception of the left over funk that I have been in, hangover from last month. I won't dwell on the negatives though. Positive thoughts, positive actions.
Who the hell am I kidding?
Saturday
Let's start this out properly by saying there are better things to watch than Pompey v. Burnley, but then I'd be lying. I made it down for at least the second half if my memory serves correctly. I wasn't in much of a hurry to catch the beginning but it was nice to see Pompey deliver some points.
There is something about that club that I like. I don't know what IT is though.
I also don't know if it is the holidays or what lately. The pub has been a little thinner crowd wise. I think I may have mentioned this before but it may have just been the games being shown.
Since, Scousers were on the big screen, I went to the Arsenal section. Yes, the official Arsenal section, in the back with the big comfy booths and the small telly that sits at an angle. It has a certain quaintness about it, if you ask me. I know some will disagree but honestly I don't give a fuck what they think.
My blog, my opinion. Piss off.
The Arsenal section, believe it or not, was more abuzz with WC2010 conversations than actual paying attention to game. It wasn't that exciting of a tie. The Gunners just aren't about playing their usual beautiful football lately. Quite depressing when you really think about when it is all clicking together.
At one point in time, we were trying to pull up the groups. For some reason my phone, which has been crappy ever since the new WinMobile came out, wasn't able to pull anything worthwhile across. ChiTownGooner pulls out her I-phone and started trying to locate it as well. She kept pulling up articles related to people's opinions on the draw and not the actual draw itself.
Finally, I mentioned that the FIFA site should have it. I still don't know why we were looking in other places for it. Anyways, after searching for about 10 minutes, TheFlanneledGooner says, "OH we found out what we were looking for, just wanted to see how long it would take you guys."
Yah, thanks mate.
The other portion of time spent in the Arsenal section was trying to pull off the best imitations of ManCity himself. The more Chelski supporters that started arriving, the more we started bellowing out "CITEEEEHHHHH!"
I believe B-boy started that but it was fun to say the least. So ManCity, we of the Arsenal section salute you. At least when you're playing Chelski and MancScum and proper Scum. I don't really know about other times.
OH and by the way, I do not look like SWP.
Now for the fun!
Chelski, HAHAHA, you bitches loss to City.
The only bad part is the solid drubbing that MancScum gave to WestHam. It was interesting to see as many WestHam supporters as MancScum.
Ah, I remembered there was a positive to all this... ChelskiGirl being the good friend she is, downloaded some Madness for me and put it on a CD. It's good to have a thoughtful friend, who is still trying to bribe me.
However, with every positive there is a negative. I made the mistake of trying to wind up SlainteLOSC and paid for it. O'Lyon took a shot to the head and were deflated by Lille. This was made very clear on my FB page.
After the Chelski game, I had to break out west to attend my littlest cousin's Princess Party. Let me tell you, it is an odd feeling going from pub to hanging out with family and trying to keep it all under your hat, so to speak.
It was a nice little soiree but the lure and drag of more football being shown was pulling me back towards the pub. Alright it was a call from ACMilan who was watching the Italian Oscars by himself. I headed down and kept him company for a bit before turning in for the evening.
Sunday
I had a rather sour morning. I learned that depending on people to do things is something that I am at fault at and should not set myself up for that kind of disappointment. Anyways enough about all that noise cause it has nothing to do with football at all.
However, ChelskiGirl had my CD all done and I was to meet her down for the second half of the Everton-Scum game. The Scum had a 2-nil lead at one point and the one Yid who looks like he'd kill you if given half a chance was down at the opposite end of the bar.
All I remember hearing was something about how the Scum would be in 3rd above the Arsenal. It is not something I like to hear on a Sunday morning. Mind you, I am sure this guy is a nice enough bloke but we have never said two words to each other. I am not sure if it's because of our allegiances or just, who the fuck am I kidding?
So 1 Yid and 1 Toffee are sitting there, plus myself and ChelskiGirl who believes throwing a CD at me is the best way to greet me. It was a Madness CD so all is forgiven on that account.
Now, like I said I was having a shit day to begin with and watching the fucking Scum being up 2-nil was not making it much better. I took a deep breath and was about to begin resigning myself and the Arsenal to fourth.
But, OH how does the patience pay off for M. LeChat?
Yakuba and Saha, my new best mates.. oh and Timmy "FUCKING" Howard, saving against the Defoe penalty. Saha with what would have been Goal of the Year had he scored it and a reignited Everton squad dismantling Good Ol'Arry's piece of shit SCUM!
So all in all the Sunday turned out so-so.
Shyte morning with slight downpour followed by the glorious sun arising and drying everything out. Itsy-Bitsy spider climbing the bloody fahkin rain spout.

Sunderland Away
This is going to be quick and painless. I am none too happy about the results this weekend at all. NONE.
My first inclination was to avoid writing about anything pertaining to Saturday, but then I thought better.
SATURDAY
The usual suspects abound. I made it down to the pub for the ManShitty - Scousers tie and was bored. Not even a slight bit of excitement. *sigh*
Then the Arsenal match. Watching Nightcaller get drunk and still being pissed about a dubious hand ball was more exciting than the match. Let's just say the chants of Boring Boring Arsenal seemed more appropriate than ever.
I was actually so annoyed and bored. I left during the middle of the MancScum game. I think Saturday was the worst day in a long time. The only thing that kept me from going insane was the usual suspects.
It's always good to have a few good mates around. Especially when it rains the shit cloud of boredom that Saturday had become.
UGH I WANT TO STAB MY EYES OUT!
SATURDAY NIGHT
Boredom turned to anger froth and venom. I had to deal with the local cable company and their shenanigans for half the night. I decided it was better for me to avoid any and all groups of people trying to have a good time.
SUNDAY
The sun came out. I decided against my better judgment to head down to the pub and watch the Italian Oscars with ACMILAN. I had nothing better to do.
Now here is the WHAT THE HELL moment for the week. I was actually entertained by Italian football. WHAT? Yah I know. After watching the boring draws on Saturday I was thinking of quitting. Never watching another game again.
Bonus Feature: ACMilan is celebrating his win, mind you, we are the only two in the pub really watching the game. A bunch of normals are sitting around at the various tables, grazing on their morning meals.
ACMilan is clapping, turns around and tells everyone to join in because Milan just won. I jest not. The whole pub was clapping in unison to the win. I believe one person even inquired about why they were clapping. It was a bright spot on the day.
Afterwards, I bought some pants. They are very nice pants.
Yah this is short. I am not recounting anything else. I am still bored, angered and disappointed in this weekend. Not for my friends, mind you not, but for the stupidity of the football media. Hell the stupidity of the media in general.
*sigh*
Dreaming of a time when Irish people and French people can walk hand in hand together.

Wooooooolves (Away)
I can not say there is much joy happening right now. I am in nervous anticipation for the next weekend. WC2010 qualifiers, France-Ireland. I am usually not too nervous about such affairs but it began preoccupying my mind late Sunday after getting off the phone with ACMilan.
It is funny how a wonderful weekend can turn into a "wonder what the hell next weekend will bring", in a matter of moments. So, does Ireland make me nervous? Yes, I just said that. I wish I really could put my finger on why without resorting to my old stand by of,
SATURDAY
It started off alright... down the pub... have some pints, so to speak. ManCity himself was center stage prior to me getting there. For some reason or another, he kept insisting I looked like Shawn Wright-Phillips. I think I am buying him a pair from Lenscrafters for Christmas.
A couple of the part-time bistro boys came in and were going to take him over to the Bistro for the Arsenal game. They had plans to meet up with someone there, so I forgave them, this time. I also thought it would be hilarious for ManCity and his usually vocal self to be surrounded by a bunch of Gooners (at least they call themselves that) watching the Arsenal play.
I hope to run into him soon to find out how it all went. He was saying he didn't have any issues with going over there and being himself, as the bistro Gooners are a little soft. Everyone nodded in agreement.
The three headed off about the time HalfArseDean came in. It was good to see him as he had not been around for some time. ChelskiGirl showed up shortly after kick off, followed by MiniMourhino after the half. The crowd in general was a little thin but that is to be expected for late games.
Somehow a conversation was started about opening up a Relegation pub. It would be for those who are in the bottom 4 or Championship. No big teams, only BIG games. It would be a neat idea and give people like Sheffield and our local Geordies a place to watch their matches without jockeying for position against the likes of Scousers and Mancs.
After the game, I somehow found myself at the barnextdoor with ChelskiGirl and Jonfromnextdoor. The rest of the day was a bit blurry after that, with the exception of me getting nachos at Friends and running into a kid I hadn't seen in like 12 years.
SUNDAY
I expected this day to be more fun and excitement than what it was. I popped down to the pub a bit early, as I was bored and there was nothing else better to do. ACMilan was there, so we decided to grab a bite to eat and watch his game in the back section, as someone found the vapid Hull Stoke tie to be more entertaining.
I will admit, I am usually not a big fan of Italian football but it was a fairly interesting match. You had your choice between Milan and Lazio. I would have rather eaten a dog bone but choose to at least show a little support to ACMilan and not the facist. Which brings up the question of how can you tell which team is more facist in Italy? I know there is a joke in there somewhere.
Pasta, Spaghetti, Rigatoni. Don't talk about my mama's Lasagna!
That is ACMilan's joke, not mine, so no one come after me with the concrete shoes.
We sat in the back for the United Chelsea tie. We were joined by various others at various times, some just to say hello and some to stay for a while and join in our random commentary on the state of the match. We were like the two grumpy guys on the muppet show.
It was nice to see one of my original Manc friends there, but he disappeared before the end of the match. He tends to get a little riled up when Mancs or England are losing. One time I had to throw him in the back of my car and take him cross town so he didn't throw any more bottles at anyone. Funny thing is, he's one of the best lads there is out there, genuine and true.
Weird moment of the day:
Some random MancScum, actually I know exactly who he is... had some words with M. He didn't like the way she was singing with the Chelski bunch after the game. He actually threatened physical harm to her. I was standing about 1o feet away, waiting for him to take a step, which never appeared.
I figured most of it was just drunken rambling but he had a lot of balls to say some of the things he did. I think M would have handled herself though, maybe even pulled him down ala Elizabeth Lambert style.
MONDAY
I can not believe not a single Scouser gave me a score update today. I'm lumping you all back together. One big old lump of scouse, some friends you are. And by the way, if you are going to dive, at least - A. make it look good. - B. win the bloody game.

Domenech can not be trusted with the national team and he must have some naked pictures of someone in the FFF to have had this job for so long because he has really fucked it up royally on more than one occasion.

SCUM! at Home (and I forgot the Milk Cup tie)
First of all, I want to apologize for missing the mid-week Milk Cup blog. I don't think it would have made much difference anyways. I did think about it. I watched the highlights but last week was trying, to say the least... and I'm sure my Scouse loving friends won't want me to mention too much about it. SO, I present a totally unrelated to anything football or Scouse blog filler video.
HALLOWEEN or the day The Arsenal stomped on the spirit of good ol' 'Arry!
It's not my fault you wanted to manage a shit team, mate. Scum *visibly shaking my head even as I type this.* Fahkin Scum. There is nothing more disgusting than the Scum, well Rooney had a kid but it's really not the kids fault though, is it? Not to mention that Rooney's kid came out of the womb with the Doctor's wallet and house keys.
What? I'm just saying.
The pub was a bit thin, as there was the Halloween tents and things going on the Thames but it was a decent crowd to say the least, for an early game. Gooners were a bit happier after the first 42 minutes but there were no Sp*rs supporters to be found.
I remember an email or something going about, trying to figure out the exact number of supporters that they have. I think we came up with the number 3, really 2 1/2 because the old guy with the beard is only a supporter because he's Jewish and doesn't know much about the game, but he tries.
And yes, before the Sheriff calls me anti-Semitic again for saying YIDS last week, that is why he told me he was a Sp*rs supporter. I can not make these things up. Anyways, where does MancScum get off calling me out on saying Yids...
They are the Yid Army. I didn't make that one up either, they did.
(It is a predominately Jewish area of North London.)
Wiki links.
Anyways, I'm done with the Scum as they take their rightful place below us on the table.
Fast Fact - Sp*rs have not beaten The Arsenal this century. (I know we are only 9 years into it but it's a nice little fact)
I won't mention the Scousers game too much but I do feel a tad bit of sorrow for their lot in life right now. It goes to show there are only 2 things are certain in football, and one of those is still under question.
I ended up arguing with one of the Scousers calling for Benetiz's job. I had to explain that if the players can't play because the manager is in their head, maybe they should find a new vocation. It's obvious something is going on at that club but to say that it's all Benetiz is a fahkin joke.
A few of the regular Scousers, seemed to be backing me up on my stance. I think he understood that not everything coming out of the Journo's pens is word of God because usually it's far off the mark. I may have been a little harsh but it's an argument that I find unfounded and without substance.
We shook hands and gave each other respect. I'm not a total piece of sh!t. I can respect the opinions of others, just that I'm usually right.
The Chelski game was interesting and quite a few of the blue crew showed up. The Gooners had stuck around mostly to harass everyone else and get drunk off the solid drubbing of the Scum.
When Chelski went up, the songs began flying back and forth. 3 - nil to the Arsenal was holding strong against whatever dribble was spewing from the Chelski boys and girls.
Then they got the fourth.
It was fun while it lasted. The songs and jokes continued into the MancScum game. Someone pointed out there were actually no Mancs in the pub. I think a friend of the BigAustrian showed up with some people and she may have been a Manc supporter, probably akin to having pimples I suppose. There's always one, somewhere, even if it's on your ass.
I remember some pictures being taken and a lot more singing and acting up among the regular crew. Pretzels was missed and his name was mentioned quite a few times but I'm sure he was enjoying the revelry from his spot in the terraces.
SUNDAY
Not much to mention. It was chilly and rainy. I didn't go out Halloween night, as I didn't feel like dealing with the randomness of Halloween, plus had fallen asleep around 6PM and woke up around 10PM and was overall lazy.
I had woken up earlier than usual, due to the time change. I headed down to the barnextdoor and enjoyed a good breakfast while talking with Jonfromnextdoor about the festivities of the night before, since he was working the secondfloornextdoor.
ChelskiGirl came along after a bit. Headache in tow, apparently her and A Certain Scouser got into some scotch or something at Birminghams house. Oh excuse me, BirMigHam or was it BirmingWho? Actually that works. The evolution of your blog name is now finished, in real time at that.
After a while, I went up to visit Barca, then came back to find the barnextdoor had become an American Football paradise. I had run into ManCity himself on the way back and decided to pop into the pub for the City/Shitty game. Which was a tad bit of a surprise. I figured it would be a one sided affair, so had not paid much attention to it.
I will say that with a total of maybe 10 people in the pub, that there is no doubt in my mind, that ManCity has a true passion for his club. I mean I knew it before but it's a good scene to see him being the only person screaming, or better yet encouraging his side to put one in and get it over with.
It was also probably the first time I actually sat and watched a game with really just him. Well there was a friend of his that had shown up just before I did and I believe one of the random Gooners that I am not too acquainted with but only by face, was sitting in the corner booth. It was a good random time though.

AC - OH you know that picture of me with the Chelski jersey, don't show that to anyone ok. It might ruin my reputation.
ME - Sure thing.

How's the weather in South Beach now?

BIRMINGHAM at HOME and WC2010 Playoff Draw
Where shall I begin?
This weeks blog, like my beautiful little Volkswagen, is having a hard time starting. I am sure that the finishing will be much better than what the Scousers had going on this weekend however.
(Apologies to all my Scouse friends, you may want to stop reading now.)
I believe there was some kind of benefit or get-together on Friday. I only picked up a smattering of what was going on from A Certain Scouser after I was a couple beers into a happy hour before band practice. Needless to say I was unable to attend. I do enjoy their little soirees.
However, I will admit. The beach ball party on Saturday morning was a lot more fun.
Alright, alright, I can feel the ice-picks being thrown across the intertubes now.
So I wasn't in a hurry to watch the first match. I really didn't care too much, either way. I slept in for a few and luckily my car decided to start. So far it was appearing to be a good day.
Making my way into the pub, I get stopped by some of the Chelski jokers about my blue colored jacket. It happens all the time. I quickly opened up and pointed to the cannon on my old school top and laughs were had. I was then told to not turn around and look at the screen.
With confusion on my face, I slowly peer over my shoulder and see it. Villa up and Chelski making very little impact. I smiled, yes only smiled and maybe chuckled a bit and waved myself on. I spoke to ChelskiGirl and Mini-Mourinho before heading down to the Arsenal end of the pub.
I am seriously just going to claim the whole back booth area. For some reason, all our games seem to be on at the same time as the Scousers. And with Irish being a Scouse loving Irishman, we know whose going to be on the main screen. No offense on that, like I've said before, hardest working man in the business. Plus the Scousers do have a rather large contingent, even on beach ball day.
LilBlondieGooner and her man were at the end of the bar. First thing that comes out of her mouth was something along the lines of 'You're late, I expected you to be here already.' Not much I could say, except I decided to sleep in and no one cares about Chelski playing Villa. I now stand corrected.
Also, apparently you can order fruit and toast. Yes, fruit and toast. Go figure.
Well I settle down in the back booths after making some Joe Cole comments and order up some breakfast. A little more substantial than fruit and toast. However this prompts LilBlondieGooner into calling me fat. So I am keeping that one in a little notebook. She will get hers. *insert evil laughter*
I have to admit, nothing too exciting happened. The Gunners showed up, a little sloppy to say the least. Someone started singing 99 Red Balloons after Sunderland scored against the Scousers. Well it was sung quite a few times but no one could get past the beginning of the song.
I did give consolations to my Scouse friends. It was really a dubious decision by the Ref, who by the way, is always a bastard. I was reading in the Guardian about how it should have been disallowed, which is what my immediate thought was.
I might be an annoying Gooner sometimes, but HEY, I do know what's fair and what some of the more obscure rules of the game, for the most part. It is nice to have some kind of confirmation of the fact without having to look it up in a rule book.
Anyways, it was a positive, albeit London weather like, Saturday for the pub and football, and most of all the Arsenal. Everyone dropping points, except for the bloody Scum. I still can't believe they are one point ahead of us.
Yah, Game in Hand, I know. Still Scum sit above The Arsenal in the table.
Sunday
My Sunday was suppose to be heading down to the pub to harass City and catch up with ACMilan. However, German engineering sought to derail my attempts at forming a resistance by staging an occupation of my back yard. Or the Scousers nicked my starter. Someone is plotting against me. So I spent most of the day figuring out that my battery was not the issue and that I would have to go to a real mechanic.
What do you Germans and Scousers have in common...
The English version. You know, whatever you do, don't mention the war.
OH I need to pass on this story, as well. ACMilan, which I must mention, calls me late in the day with a wonderful tale that needed to be witnessed. He sends me an MMS with himself posing with a bunch of guys from a reggae band. He calls it his good luck charm.
Apparently, when all hope was lost. These guys started setting up to perform at the pub that night. ACMilan asked if they could hold off for a bit while the game was finishing. They agreed and were messing around a bit. ACMilan said they started playing Three Little Birds, and Milan started playing like they were all a bunch of 20 year olds, coming back and winning their match against Roma.
He said the music just fit, everything was just working, clicking on all cylinders. Then he started singing, "Don't worry bout a thing, cause every little thing, is going to be alright." Which I will admit, hearing ACMilan singing Bob Marley, was a highlight on a rather dismal Sunday.
MONDAY - World Cup Playoff Draw
As many of you may or may not know, I do not get much time to access the intertubes from work. Today, during my lunch, half not thinking, I decide to have a look at the good old Guardian. The Guardian goes well with cheesesteak subs apparently.
My bookmark is actually on the football page. Top story just happened to be this one.
France will not intimidate Irish
Very interesting indeed. I was expecting the draw to go a little different. I did not expect to be drawn against the Irish. It's going to make for a very uncomfortable mid-November at the pub. My only consolation is knowing that the French games will be on the big screen. I hope that SlainteLOSC does decide to turn up. United we must stand in a sea of green.
I must point out that this still does not discredit my World Cup conspiracy theory. It just proves it, more or less. Ireland could actually be a contender but what would FIFA do if they actually took the thing? Seriously, if Ireland does get lucky and beat France, then at least they can say they beat one of the better teams out there and have proof that they are a serious contender. My guess is there is always wishful thinking or luck of the Irish. HA!

Midweek - Beckham Experiment - Celtic Home(CL)
Tuesday!
My maybe became a why the hell not, so I headed down to the pub to sit in on the Beckham Experiment reading/discussion. All in all it was a pretty interesting time. There was that one guy though, you know the one, "that guy".
When he first came in, he seemed alright, wearing an Arsenal shirt and all to boot. He sat down and kept saying how much he liked this place. I shrugged and returned to my chicken cheesesteak. Lyon was on the replay on television so that was definitely more interesting than hearing this guy rattle on.
A few minutes later some of the local scousers start showing up. It was a relief to see them, as now I knew there would be more people who I respected as football supporters than just myself and SlainteLOSC. SmoothtalkerScouser started talking to the guy and he started making relevant points. This, of course, surprised me. He also let it be known he was MancScum and he had lost a bet so that's why he was wearing an Arsenal top.
Respect meter begins to fall.
Let me hit a good point. Grant Wahl is a great guy. He penned the Beckham Experiment and has a lot of interesting insights into the way MLS works and dealing with the personalities in football in general. If you see him, definitely give him a hello and some appreciation for the work he has done.
So, you know how you have that one guy in class, that really annoying guy that can't shut the fuck up. MancScum in disguise is officially that guy. You know one or two questions, ok cool. He decides to prattle on and on, asking more questions then trying to answer his own questions, interrupting Grant and just being, I don't know, Classless?
Classless and MancScum.. sort of fits.
LilBlondieGooner and her man (sorry can't think of a good name for you yet) showed up, which was nice as well. LilBlondie's parents even came, very cool people in deed. Grant had a nice crowd, which was good in terms of it not being a match and something more intellectual.
See, football supporters aren't all that bad.
Millwall - West Ham
Fun Fun Fun in the London Suuuuuuuunnnnn, good to see some ink on a classic confrontation. There were some brilliant pictures in the Guardian. My favorite was this one.

Celtic at HOME
I have not seen a thing. I know the result and it makes me smile. However I did get a facebook message from a certain MancScum earlier today.
MancScum -
Response -
I look forward to the weekend. Chelski then Liverpool then The Arsenal- ManYoo, after which, if I am still standing...
The Italian Diving Competiton(Milan edition)!
A More Somber Note
Edward "Ted" Kennedy passed away today, last of the boys.
I am drinking a Sam Adams Black Lager in his honour.
Peace be with you, Ted.

Portsmouth at Home
First home of the season for the Arsenal and a decent show it was. The pub was alive with several Gooners, many whom I had only seen on passing occasions. I'd say it was a good 20 strong, which is a pretty decent crowd for our supporters.
I'll also give a nod for Mr. ManCity showing up on his birthday and lending his voice as we sang to the 8 or so MancScum who decided to show up. (I am actually being cordial today for some reason, don't ask why.)
As I began, the day was pretty decent; sun shining, the televisions were working, cool drinks and warm food, no major complaints from the peanuts in the gallery. However, and I should have figured on this one, LoudMouthGooner was his usual loud self.
Honestly, I don't have a problem with someone being loud from time to time but this guy is always, always loud, even for the most simplest points. That's the other end of it though, not only loud but usually very wide of the mark.
I try and ignore it but it is so hard. I usually pipe in with one or two snide comments which for the most part he can't argue with. Now, I'm not Mr. Know-it-all by far but at least I can respect another person's opinion and not have to shout mine own at them. That's so disrespectful but I don't think this guy gets it.
There came an actual point where I had enough and the argument wasn't even mine to be had. I just hated how rude he was coming off and onto a fellow Gooner. Then the brainiac started trying to come after me, overtalking and just being loud. So I do what I normally do in these situations.
I get up off my seat, walk over calmly and speak in a more hushed tone. A skill learned in customer service, someone yelling and being unreasonable, you speak quietly and slowly. This tends to throw them off and make them speak more softly.
First I corrected him on calling me an American supporter, sorry but not a big fan of Sam's Army, didn't grow up as one, never have been one, doubt I will ever be one. He backed down from the shouty rhetoric he was espousing and gave what appeared to be an apology. After which I gave him my stance on the issue and tell him how if the guy wants to speak about such and such player, then let him have his say, calm it down. Maybe in not so many words but my point was made. It was just disrespectful and that's the last thing I want to see.
Apparently, a lot more people noticed this exchange than I thought. LoudMouthGooner isn't making many friends, even amongst his own. I guess he feels he is part of something but he's alienating the very people who would include him in that something.
I headed back home for a cookout for my little cousin and decided that the weather was a little too warm. The reality was that I was being called back to the pub to meet up with ACMilan. I got to admit, one of the coolest people at the pub. He usually watches his games by himself, surrounded by the late afternoon meathead/douchebag crowd.
"Oh man, What's this? Soccer?"
"I played soccer when I was younger."
"Is this the World Cup?"
"Did you see that U.S game? That was great, wasn't it?"
I had told him before I would come out to a few games and I was feeling a need for some more football. I drop into the pub and we grab a couple of seats at the bar, order some drinks. ChelskiGirl pops in for a bit and has a Magners before going off to do her Chelski things in her Chelski world. (Barbie Girl reference if you missed it, not that she is one but that song just popped into my head.)
Meanwhile, ACMilan and I are discussing the finer points of Italian performance art surrounded by a football match, when the random guy beside me starts blurting out players names... at random.
This goes on for a while and we can't figure out if he's serious, "special" or drunk. ACMilan leans over at one point and goes "I think everyone has one of those fans. I guess this one is mine." Which is a shame since it really is just him and now this guy. The contempt on his face for this guy was classic. I couldn't help but laugh at the situation, mind you I'm sitting right next to the guy, between the two of them.
The end result was uneventful. The guy was actually wearing a Milan t-shirt with a player's name and number on the back. I can't remember who but that was a surprise and I hadn't noticed it before. I told ACMilan that I would show up for the derby next week after the Arsenal - ManU game.
I make my way down the street and at the bar next door I notice two of the more recent Arsenal converts having a couple of beers. They both head over to the bistro and I don't see them too often, so I decided to stop and say a quick hello. As usual with the Bistro Boys, they try and get me to come over for a game and how great of a place it is and how they open special for the Arsenal games.
My retort was the usual; PUB is HOME... When no one else was showing the games, they were... If I want to see FCButtcrack vs. CalcioJockitch, they will open for it... I have my loyalties.
They seem to understand but were plying hard for me to come over to the Bistro with; People are wondering where you are... they have cheap prices.. there are a ton of Arsenal supporters.
At the end of it all, we agreed to call it a draw. I can't do it, plain and simple.
Sunday - Funday had the Chelski match on. I decided to show up just to harass their lot of course. They do have a fun group of supporters. GrumpyGooner was also there so I had someone to voice my contempt with. There was one lonely Fulham fan, poor guy. We tried to lend him our support but he looked really nervous in that sea of blue. He did manage a nervous grin and head nod every now and again, Good on him for showing up and supporting his squad.
Oh and bloody Tottenham won. Bloody fahkin Spurs and their two mysterious supporters who show up. These guys are weird and not just for being Spurs fans. Just weird. An unexplainable weird which reminds me of the Catherine Tate sketch.
Monday - I did not watch the Liverpool match. I will not mention anything about that. I did however see the TallGeordie at Song's. He works near where I work, so I thanked him for letting me in line at the Chelski-Milan match and we had a short conversation about our prospective seasons. After which I offered him a Coca-Cola and we had a laugh.
It's kind of fun, taking it out of someone away from the pub and in a normal environment. The people around you have no idea what's going on and why offering someone a Coca-Cola is funny to the two pretty normal looking guys dressed in button ups and slacks.
One other quick good fortune happened today, the household television picks up GolTV. I don't understand how but I guess it's part of the standard cable package now, since the DTV upgrade. There was also some channel showing Bolton WanderersTV. I still haven't figured out exactly what channel it is because it only shows the cable company's logo at the bottom. Should probably spring for digital cable but I don't even watch television enough to even care.
C'est la vie.

27 July 2009
LONG Football WEEKEND
Well Friday started off well enough. My cousin and I headed down to the pub for some pre-game lunch. Then a small amount of the regular crew showed up. It was a Friday, so someone had to work I suppose, plus a fraction of the regulars were somewhere on the west-side near the stadium.
I never did figure out exactly where because I wasn't giving up the money for the VIP passes. Anyways, we took up a corner in the society room next to the buffet. The author of Beckham Experiment was there, very nice guy. He had recently moved into or back into the area and was doing some signings. I didn't talk to him about the book because the last thing on my mind was Mr. Beckham and his experiment.
I have to remind you I was a few pints into the world at this point in time. Someone in our corner grabbed the poor DC United representative and harassed her for about 5 minutes. She kept insisting she wasn't anyone important but I think the boys didn't mind that one bit. She eventually found her way to where she was suppose to set up, right next to us.
About halfway through the afternoon, some Arsenal boys showed up and I joined them for a couple of pints and general harassment of the Chelsea crew that was sitting around my table.
A news crew and camera showed up as well. There is a 10 second clip of me chanting, probably something totally inappropriate. Afterwords, we hiked across the harbor to meet up with the Chelsea boys and girls across from the stadium. As soon as we get there, they decide to go to the VIP tent. I wasn't feeling it, so hung out with some old Gooner friends and a couple of West Ham supporters. Two of the Chelsea crew stuck around, as they didn't feel very VIP-ish either.
The crowd outside the stadium was going well, lots of chanting, lots of beers and just general good feeling. I think we may have jumped into a picture with some Brasilians and had a good laugh.
Now nevermind we had seats way up top, my cousin and I, but it was a great view. There were a few faces from the pub with us and a couple of crazy Greeks. I saw one of the local skins and we both began singing one of the local chants as he made his way to his seat.
Chelsea-Milan, quality football in Baltimore. Nice. Reeaaaal nice. Halftime a little squabble almost kicked off between my skinhead friend and some tourist yahoo in blue. I, of course tapped my cousin and we made sure the gentleman knew he was in Baltimore. It settled really quick. I go back to my seat and I notice a big contingent of Tattoo museum people right across the aisle. I have a little talk with Bill and then off to the pisser.
Second half was gentle. We decided it would be best to run out at 83 because Chelsea was already up and Milan looked tired. I didn't really care about the scoreline anyways. I tried to get a drink back at the pub but I was so tired that I just hopped into the VW and went home.
The best thing was it was a decent showing and a good weekend overall. Saturday was a little more drinking and carousing with friends from out of town. I crashed out on a couch and headed home the next morning.
Sunday, nice and refreshed, headed to the pub and to watch a solid trouncing of the United States v. Mexico. Unbelievable. I'm not a big US fan but that was tragic to say the least. Overall it was a quiet Sunday compared to the Friday/Saturday revelry.
I should probably plan on doing these more or less as things happen. My mind is slowly fading and I figured a Monday wrap up would be nice but my mind is fading.
See!
I never did figure out exactly where because I wasn't giving up the money for the VIP passes. Anyways, we took up a corner in the society room next to the buffet.
